Bike to Work Week

Bike to Work Week

One of the joys of warmer weather is the opportunity to do lots of fun things outside.  Included in those opportunities is bike riding.  The community has invested in creating safe bike lanes through out the city.  And to raise the awareness is a national program called “Bike to Work Week”, May 14-18.

Linden Road is fortunate to be located on the western edge of the city bike route and we want to do our part to be a good neighbor.

Stop by the morning of 5/18 from7-7:30am and pick up your “swag bag”.  Bags have healthy snacks and other goodies, including your 2018 “Bike to Work” reflective bike sticker.  We’ll also have some treats and warm drinks to help you head out for a productive day.

Here’s three reasons (see the whole list on the Richland Public Health blog here) to consider why you should ride your bike to work.

Fun!
Biking to work is fun, plain and simple. Biking to work allows you integrate that simple feeling of exhilaration into your daily grind.
Fitness
Biking to work is good for you. Cycling improves cardio-vascular and aerobic fitness, lowers blood pressure, boosts energy, builds muscle, and improves coordination.
Happiness
Biking to work makes you happier. Numerous studies have shown that daily exercise can reduce stress, alleviate symptoms of depression, improve sleep patterns for individuals with insomnia, and reduce anxiety.
