Bob Marshall – Into the Lord’s Care

Robert G. “Bob” Marshall, 85, of Mansfield passed away Sunday morning, March 20, 2022 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following a brief illness.

The son of David and Gladys (Vaughn) Marshall, Bob was born March 17, 1937 in New Castle, Pennsylvania and graduated from East Lawrence High School in 1955.  An Army veteran, Bob served from 1956 – 1958 and was honorably discharged.  That following year he married Joann Alborn.  In 1965, Bob and Joann moved from Pennsylvania to Mansfield.  The two remained area residents raising three daughters.  

Bob worked at Tappan until their closure.  He then worked for Warren Rupp where he retired in 1999.

            A loving and devoted grandfather, much of Bob’s world revolved around his grandchildren.  He made it a point to encourage and support his grandchildren.  He attended basketball, swimming, tennis, cross country, football, cheerleading, track, softball, soccer, baseball games, and band performances.

            He was a member at Linden Road Presbyterian Church and served on the Lexington Band Boosters.

            He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Joann Ilene (Alborn) Marshall of Mansfield; daughters Pam (Chris) Shaffer of Lewis Center, Rhonda Marshall of San Dimas, California, and Susan (Lorenzo) Platania of Pickerington; grandchildren Ashley (Justin) Green, Megan (Rayan) Zein, Ryan Shaffer, Lindsay Marshall, Courtney (Dustin) Hamilton, Annamaria (Michael) Thompson, Alessandra (Drew) Hensel, Franco Platania (fiancée Erika Joseph); great grandchildren Parker & Emmy Green, Ava Zein, Bella, Noah & Hadley Hamilton, Adriana & Brody Thompson, Mila Hensel, as well as two great grandchildren on the way; brother Richard (Sue) Marshall of New Castle, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law Betty Alborn of New Castle, Pennsylvania; nieces, nephews and extended family.

            Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his infant brother John Marshall and brother David Marshall.

            His family will receive friends Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 11 am – 1 pm at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where his funeral services will begin at 1 pm.  Military honors will be held on the grounds of the funeral home immediately following Bob’s funeral service.  Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Linden Road Presbyterian Church may be made at the funeral home.
