Mansfield: Carl B. Fowler, 75, of Mansfield passed away Thursday morning, December 30, 2021 following complications from dementia.
The son of Earl and Gladys (Boggs) Fowler, Carl was born on September 3, 1946 in Birch River, West Virginia. In 1968 he moved to Ohio. For 30 years he worked for General Motors. The first 20 years at the Elyria plant and the last 10 years of his career were at the Ontario plant.
Carl loved cars…. he really loved cars. Carl appreciated classic cars from the 1950’s and 1960’s. A talented mechanic, following his retirement from General Motors, Carl worked as an automobile mechanic from a garage at his house. He was more than fair in his service fees. Carl worked on his families, friends, and neighbors’ cars…always at a reasonable price, and sometimes even for a homemade dessert. Carl restored vehicles and was proud of his 1952 pickup and 1967 Pontiac Catalina convertible.
He enjoyed camping with his family. Carl Attended the Linden Road Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Carolyn “Bubba” Fowler, daughter Shelia Clarke, son Gus Phillips, and daughter Maya Fowler; granddaughter Felicia; great grandchildren Jaylynn, Nikayla, Kaydence, and a great grandson on the way; siblings Lee (Charlotte) Fowler, Norma Russell, and Sue (Larry) Bryant; many nieces and nephews, including Ali Abraham, with whom he had a special bond; and Linda Sheldon, who was a loving and supportive friend.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Doy Fowler, and special brothers-in-law Fred Miller and Billy Russell.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 8, 2022 at 11 am at the Linden Road Presbyterian Church.
