Today is Maundy Thursday. Thanks to our friends at Ashland First here is a way to celebrate Maundy Thursday in your home.
Maundy Thursday begins the Three Days (the Triduum), remembering the new commandment that Christ gave us in word and deed as he taught us how to love one another, washing our feet as a servant. We also celebrate the Lord’s Supper, remembering the meal Christ shared with his disciples before his death. [Read more here.]
Preparing the Elements
Take a few minutes today to prepare the elements in advance. Gather bread or crackers and juice or wine. Set these elements in the room where you plan to worship. Light a candle; consider choosing a special dish or cloth as part of your display. These suggestions can help us create a sacred space as we take Communion together.*
Maundy Thursday Communion Service
FPC’s Maundy Thursday service is now available. It can be accessed at any time and you may share the link with others if you’d like. In addition, we invite you to follow along with the Maundy Thursday liturgy [see PDF]. The liturgy invites children to help lead our special time of Communion.
